Jasmin Solfaghari was born in Freiburg/Germany in 1963 as daughter of German-Persian parents. After having spent the first six years of her childhood in Teheran/Iran she got her school education in Freiburg. At the age of 13 she took part in the competition "Jugend musiziert" playing traverse flute and became the 1. prize winner. During her school time she was for four years member of the "Freiburger Orchestergesellschaft".

In 1982 she started studying history of art and musicology at the University of Freiburg and gathered her first experiences in the fields of stage direction, dramaturgy and festival organization.

In 1983 she took up her studies in stage directing at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg (Prof. Götz Friedrich). After her studies she worked as a freelance assistant stage director and stage director in Germany and abroad (europe) for opera and TV. She has worked with such noteble directors as Marco Arturo Marelli, Wilfried Minks, Christine Mielitz, José Montes-Baquer (TV) a.o.

From 1994 -1998 Jasmin Solfaghari was stage director (“Pimpinone”, “La voix humaine”) and assistant stage director of the Hamburgische Staatsoper where she worked among others with  John Dew, Achim Freyer, Günther Krämer, Harry Kupfer, Peter Mussbach a.o. She was responsible for revivals such as: "Der Ring des Nibelungen", "Il Trittico"(also for TV), "Die Fledermaus", "Tristan und Isolde", a.o.

In 1998 she founded "Jasmin Solfaghari - Management for music and arts". She created and organized concerts in Freiburg and Hamburg and planned the guest performance of the "Hochschule für Musik und Theater Leipzig" to the Ludwigsburger Schlossfestspiele in 2009.

From 2001-2004 she was "Oberspielleiterin Musiktheater" at Stadttheater Bremerhaven/Germany and directed there 13 productions such as "Fidelio", "Othello", "Don Giovanni", "Cosí fan tutte", a.o.

She was "Oberspielleiterin" at  Deutsche Oper Berlin from 2004 to 2006 and directed at Oper Köln ("The Bassarids", "The Merry Widow", "Tannhäuser" ),Theater Klagenfurt (Austria), Stadttheater Augsburg, Oper Leipzig a.o.

From season 2006/07 - 2011 Jasmin Solfaghari has been Professor at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" Leipzig.

Jasmin Solfaghari holds masterclasses at: Opera Institute Boston University,  Iowa State University,  Wartburg College Waverley, Europäische Akademie Pallazzo Ricci, Montepulciano,  "Academy of music and danse Jerusalem", "The Israeli Opera, Opera Studio Tel Aviv".

Jasmin Solfaghari is artistic director (together with Dr. Alard von Rohr and Uwe Arsand) of the "Festliche Operngala der Deutschen AIDS-Stiftung" at Deutsche Oper Berlin (broadcasted in TV rbb, mdr, 3sat).

Jasmin Solfaghari is mother of  two sons (11 and 12 years old) and lives as a freelance opera director and teacher in Berlin.

Jasmin Solfaghari est née en 1963 à Fribourg (Allemagne) au sein d'une famille germano-perse. Elle vécu ensuite pendant six ans à Téhéran en Iran, puis poursuivi sa scolarité à Fribourg, où elle passa son baccalauréat (matière primeure: musique/flûte traversière).

Enfin elle entama des études de Musicologie et d'Histoire de l'art à l'Université de Fribourg. A la même époque, elle aquit ses premières expériences dans les domaines de la régie, de la dramaturgie et de l'organisation de festival au Théâtre Municipal de Fribourg.

Dès 1983 à 1989 elle faisait ses études de mise en scéne de théâtre musical à l'école supérieure de Musique et de Théâtre de Hambourg (Prof. Götz Friedrich) et obtint son diplôme avec la mise en scène de " Die Bassgeige " de Arghyris Kounadis. Par la suite, elle pratiqua en tant qu'assistente de mise en scène et metteur en scène en Allemagne comme à l'ètranger, et ce pour à fois pour l'opéra et pour la télevision (télevision par ex. production "La belle en bois dormant", "Le diable amoureux" de Roland Petit à Marseille pour le WDR.) Elle travailla avec des metteurs en scène comme John Dew, Achim Freyer, Günther Krämer, Harry Kupfer, Marco Arturo Marelli, Christine Mielitz, Wilfried Minks, Peter Mussbach.

Dès 1993 à 1998 elle était assistente de mise en scène à L'Opéra de Hambourg. Pendant ce temps là elle avait la responsabilité pour les productions " Ring des Nibelungen ", " Tristan ", " Il Trittico ", " Fledermaus ", etc.

Elle était engagée comme metteur en scène en Allemagne (Ludwigsburger Schlossfestspiele, Staatstheater Nürnberg, Hamburgische Staatsoper (opera stabile) Schleswig-Holstein-Musik-Festival, etc.), en Autriche (Landestheater Linz, Wiener Kammeroper), en Finlande (Sibelius Akatemia Helsinki), en Suisse (Bieler Musiktheater), etc.

Jasmin Solfaghari écrit deux pièces " Immer nur lächeln/Hommage à Richard Tauber " (création en 1999 à Hambourg) et " Zauberklänge " pour YAMAHA Academy of music, (création en 2001 à Hambourg).

De 2001-2004 elle était chef de mise en scène opéra à Stadttheater Bremerhaven (Oberspielleiterin Musiktheater). Là elle a mis en scène 13 productions comme : "Fidelio", "Otello", "Don Giovanni",          "Cosí fan tutte", etc.

De 2004-06 elle était "Oberspielleiterin" à la Deutsche Oper Berlin.

De 2006 à 2011 Jasmin Solfaghari était  professeur à la Hochschule für Musik und Theater "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" Leipzig.

Jasmin Solfaghari est directeur artistique (avec Dr. Alard von Rohr/Uwe Arsand) de "Festliche Operngala der Deutschen AIDS-Stiftung" rappresenté annuellement à  Deutsche Oper Berlin (TV rbb, mdr,3sat).

Jasmin Solfaghari a deux fils  (11 and 12 ans) et vit à Berlin.
